Estimator – Building / Civil – Canada

Job Description

Our client is an employee-owned multi-billion-dollar International Construction Civil Infrastructure Industrial Contractor.
They undertake projects across Canada from Vancouver to Montréal and across the divide from city regeneration to rail, datacentres to highways, hospitals to refineries.
Due to continued success in an ever-growing market, they would like to speak to Estimators who have minimum three years Estimating / Quantity Surveying experience with established Irish/UK Building and/or Civil Engineering Main Contractors who are interested relocating to Canada for the medium to long-term. They have requirements at various Regional Offices across Canada i.e., Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Ottawa, Regina, Vancouver etc. They will try relocate you/family to desired location if possible subject to operational requirements. They offer complete relocation with visas for you/family with a dedicated in-house transition team to help simplify the move i.e. accomodation, schooling, medical, transport, flights, visas, shipping furniture etc

Ideally cost estimating experience gained on either new build construction / industrial / highways / roads / bridges / rail type projects. Construction contracting experience is essential, ideally on projects $20M+ in value. Design & Build (D&B) type of construction experience is desirable to fit with project work to be undertaken.

Job Specification:
Cost estimating and pricing of projects using a methodology familiar to contractor experienced Cost Estimators
Working within a team of technical advisors and cost estimators
Perform quantity take-offs from tender drawings
Issue tender packages and create scopes of work
Review quotes in detail and make recommendations for award
Interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings to define scope/contents of estimates
Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, public and project teams
Work with PMs, Superintendents, project teams to develop and monitor the project schedule
Develop risk management strategies for schedules and budgets
Commercial management duties
Working successfully in a team environment
