Pre-Construction Director – Cork / Dublin / Galway / Limerick

Job Description

Our client is a Tier One Building & Civil Engineering Main Contractor
They have requirement for Pre-Construction Director to oversee the Pre-Construction phase of projects, ensuring all activities are planned and executed efficiently within predefined parameters
You will lead and guide the team through strategic project pitches and ensure that project vision aligns with client expectations
This senior client facing leadership role your expertise will be instrumental in winning competitive bids and securing successful project initiation

Responsibilities:
Lead the preconstruction team to accomplish contract requirements
Lead the preconstruction services team by budgeting, scheduling, or organizing, defining roles and responsibilities
Contribute to the development of standards, process, practices, etc. as needed for the Preconstruction Services to be a “Best of Class” provider in the construction industry
Collaborate closely with clients to understand their unique requirements and co-create tailored solutions that align seamlessly with their vision
Conduct thorough Quality assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential challenges during the pre-construction phase, safeguarding project success
Advocate for and implement sustainable and environmentally responsible practices during the preconstruction phase, aligning with industry best practices and client expectations
Identify and assess relevant risks associated with any pre-construction activities
Contribute in a meaningful way to value engineering and alternatives in proposals
Attend meetings with potential clients and develop relationships that will potentially lead to additional work for the company
Maintain and expedite pre-construction practices and services for all teams on projects assigned
Keep customer informed if required of preconstruction progress on the project and of any significant technical problems/solutions and their effect on design and/or cost
Coordinate with Estimating department staff on the development of project budgets and oversee preparation of estimates into format for presentation
Oversee the preparation of all materials presented to the owner, architect or engineer on a project
Ensure that the turnover of a project from Preconstruction and estimating to operations is done properly with appropriate hand off meetings and all information is transferred to the operations team
Stay updated with the latest construction technologies and methodologies, integrating them into pre-construction processes to enhance efficiency and quality
Innovation and fresh thinking
Oversee third party suppliers i.e. design / 3d etc

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying or a related field (preferred)
Extensive experience in pre-construction management with an established building contractor
Large-scale multi-sector project experience (preferred)
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices
Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
Strong leadership and team management
Strong understanding of relevant building regulations, codes and legislation.
Ability to develop relationships and influence a wide variety of project stakeholders including external design firms.
Innovative mindset with a confidence to challenge current methodologies
10+yrs experience in construction

This position is available in either Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Galway or Limerick
Hybrid is also available
This position may also suit a recently retired PCM or one close to retirement age who would prefer say a three-day week – this can also be accommodated for right candidate
