POSITION:          Senior Estimator – Swords
LOCATION:         SWORDS, DUBLIN, IRELAND
SALARY:              €85,000 – €105,000
EXPERIENCE:     5+ years

Alpine Recruitment is seeking a SENIOR ESTIMATOR for an established T1 Contractor in Swords, Dublin, Ireland. Our client has been to the fore in the construction of various flagship projects throughout Ireland and abroad including sports stadiums, healthcare facilities, airports, motorways, and hi-tec/pharma/datacentres.

Job Description:

Estimate accurately, competitively, and in compliance with contractual obligations. Manage costs and budgets effectively. Lead and mentor estimation teams, promoting value engineering and collaboration. Engage with clients and stay current with industry trends for process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Create precise cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Contract Analysis: Examine construction contracts, emphasising comprehension and application of contract terms like NEC, ICE, and ICC formats.
  • Bid Preparation: Lead bid and proposal development, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with client requirements.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate project risks, integrating them into cost estimates and project plans.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with project managers to establish and oversee project budgets, tracking expenses to maintain budget compliance.
  • Estimating Software: Employ estimating software (e.g., Conquest) to create detailed estimates and manage historical cost data.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to estimators and support staff, nurturing their professional growth.
  • Value Engineering: Work with design teams to explore cost-effective solutions and value engineering options that reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients and stakeholders to grasp project requirements, address inquiries, and negotiate contract modifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current on industry trends, construction techniques, and best practices to implement process enhancements, improving estimation accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • 5+ years of construction estimation experience.
  • Familiarity with contract formats like NEC, ICE, and ICC.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Conquest).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Analytical skills for contract analysis and risk assessment.
  • Budget development and management experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing industry knowledge and best practices.
