Geotechnical Engineer – New Zealand

Job Description

 

Responsibilities:

Provision of strong geotechnical technical expertise and leadership for challenging technical projects.  Detailed geotechnical designs and analysis of foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement schemes and earthworks.  Development of Project Geotechnical Risk Registers including Mitigation and Response Plans.  Maintain a commercial focus.  Failure Investigations, Analysis and Reporting.  Slope stability, Dam Embankment stability.  Soft ground (incl. peat) Engineering.  Geotechnical Design review.  Desk Study and Walk-over Site Evaluations.  Specify, Procure, Manage & Interpret Site Investigations.  Interpretation of soil and rock parameters.

 

Skills:    

Familiarity with applicable Codes and Standards and industry current best practice.  Experience with soil mechanics computer analysis and design packages.  Extensive experience of working with a wide range of challenging ground types including peat and karst ground.  Knowledge of recent Geotechnical Research/Developments pertinent to our business.  Excellent Communication and report writing skills.  Experience with working in multi-disciplinary teams delivering small to large scale projects.  Experience in the use of Eurocodes.
