Alpine Recruitment is seeking a GEOTECH – EARTHWORKS ENGINEER for an established T1 Contractor in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Job Description:
Ensure the stability, safety, and efficiency of earthwork project. Quality control and risk management responsibilities. Maintain comprehensive documentation.  Conduct geotechnical analyses, collaborate with diverse teams, and recommend construction materials. Maintain comprehensive documentation.
Responsibilities:

  • Geotechnical Analysis: Conduct geotechnical investigations to assess soil and rock properties, analyse slope stability, and recommend appropriate foundation designs for earthwork projects.
  • Earthwork Design: Develop earthwork plans that integrate geotechnical insights, ensuring the safe and cost-effective execution of projects.
  • Material Selection: Recommend suitable construction materials based on geotechnical findings to optimise project performance and durability.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality control measures to monitor earthwork activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Risk Management: Identify geotechnical risks and challenges, and devise strategies to mitigate them. Prepare contingency plans to address unforeseen issues.
  • Collaborative Coordination: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including surveyors, environmental specialists, and construction crews, to facilitate seamless project execution.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project records, including geotechnical reports, soil test results, and design documentation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience as a Geotech – Earthworks Engineer, with a minimum of 5+ years in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainable construction practices is advantageous.
